The Captain
My name is Nick DeMuth and I welcome you to the home of HookJaw Charters. My goal is simple, to do anything I can to provide you with the best fishing experience of your life! I have been fishing the Finger Lakes Region and Lake Ontario for more than twenty years. My focus is on trolling for Lake Trout, Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout and Salmon. I hold a United States Coast Guard Masters License, and a New York State Guides License. I am also a member of the Finger Lakes Trollers Association. The Association holds club sanctioned fishing tournaments on several of the different Finger Lakes annually. In addition to these tournaments I fish a host of other fishing derby's and tournaments on both the Finger Lakes and Lake Ontario. We have been successful in finishing in the top of many of these events. Competing in tournaments is an exciting way to spend a day or weekend on the water. Ask about special pricing for tournament events! In 2011 I am pleased to announce that Captain James Grosso will be assisting me with many charters. Captain Jim holds a USCG Masters License, and has been a New York State Licensed Guide for the past fifteen years. In addition, Captain Jim is a master fly tyer, and custom creates most of the trolling flys that we use while trolling. Together I feel that we will be able to provide you with the best fishing experience possible in the region!
The Boat
I take pride in providing my customers with the newest fishing gear and technology available on ANY fishing charter boat in the Finger Lakes. When fishing with me you will be fishing aboard a NEW 2009 SportCraft 232 Express. This is a 25 foot hardtop fishing vessel with a private cabin and porta-potty. The boat has over 60 square feet of fishing space for you to enjoy with your family and friends. Hookjaw is outfitted with the newest fishing gear and tackle from Great Lakes Planers, Berts Tackle, Cannon, Humminbird, Shimano, Okuma, Daiwa, Penn, A-Tom-Mik, Dreamweaver, Michigan Stinger, Northern King, and Sutton. I am currently utilizing the newest Cannon Digi-Troll Down-riggers which are connected via the Cannon Link System to a Humminbird HD Sonar with Side and Down Scan technology. Hookjaw is also outfitted with a Yamaha 9.9 high thrust kicker motor which is linked to the new Garmin TR-1 Gold autopilot system. This state of the art fishing technology allows us to locate, and catch fish that others are passing by. This fishing system is truly amazing to see in action!
The Fishing!
My boat and gear allows me to remain mobile so that I can put you on the best fishing possible! What might be hot fishing one week may be tough the next. I enjoy fishing on Keuka Lake, Seneca Lake, Cayuga Lake, Owasco Lake, and Canandaigua Lake. When fishing with Hookjaw Charters you will be provided with the opportunity to fish for Lake Trout, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout and Salmon that lurk in these waters. In the Finger Lakes you can expect to catch fish ranging from two to fifteen pounds. You will be provided with all of the necessary gear to make your trip a success.

What to bring
Weather on the Finger Lakes can change dramatically throughout the day. Always keep in mind that during many months of the year the temperature on the water will often be cooler than forecast. Be certain to check the weather before your trip and dress accordingly. I have found that the following items can make your day on the water a more enjoyable one:
